Education for Sustainable Development is a key issue in the 21st century. Education for Sustainable development encourages people to act with responsibility and to live in harmony with their social, cultural, economical and natural environment. Foresight on sustainability issues enables us to solve crisis situations and adapt to new circumstances.
The target group of Education for Sustainable Development are people, who not only live in harmony with nature and peacefully with other cultures, but also put into practice long-term and thought-out resource use. These people understand local problems, but also analyse them in a global context. They appreciate other cultures and create a peaceful and sustainable society and foster its economic development. Education for Sustainable Development means including key sustainable development issues into teaching and learning; for example water quality, diversity of urban environment, biological diversity, climate change,eradication of poverty, cultural diversity, sustainable economy and water resources management.
